A Lilac Montage

Are you finding that "April is the cruelest month?" If you live in a cold weather clime that may always be true, but it's been a tricky year. I felt a bit cheated out of my lilacs this spring, so I've made a montage from other Aprils.

How can you be melancholy in the presence of lilacs on the patio? I'm so glad they grow in New Mexico.

A lilac garden vignette. . . .

Yesterday's lilacs with English Garden china. . . .

A bumper crop year needed a celebration!

Lilacs in the garden with a beautiful white crocheted tablecloth that my DIL made for me.

Happy springs days ahead!

What beautiful lilacs. They remind me of my sweet, precious grandmother, whom I lost last year at the age of 95. Growing up, she would always take me to her favorite lilac bush, which was as big as a car! I would cut blooms off to take back to her house. We would put some in each room of her 100 year-old house. With the windows open, and the breezes blowing, that amazing lilac scent would fill the whole house and make sweet dreams for me at night. I have tried to plant lilacs here where I live now, but it's too hot and they don't do well. So thank you for this beautiful post with all the wonderful photos. It made my day!

Good Afternoon Jacqueline, I adore lilac and last year I planted a couple of bushes in my garden. I also have a small plant which was given to me by my mother in law. The lilac she gave me was part of a large bush which her husband, Bob, planted 25 years ago.... it is lovely to know that the lilac bush lives on in my garden.
The perfume in your home must be absolutely gorgeous.
I have enjoyed my visit and have become a new follower. I would like to invite you to visit me at Ivy, Phyllis and Me! when you have the time. Best Wishes from England, Daphne
